SERVICES DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS

At Buffalo Urban League, we always want to ensure the safety of our staff members and members of our community, and this is especially important during the COVID-19 crisis. We have a comprehensive safety plan for our programs to keep everyone safe during this time.

CLEANING & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Cleaning & Sanitizing

  • Daily health & wellness assessments (including temperature checks) for employees and participants.
  • Sanitizing and deep cleaning of work areas, including tables, doorknobs, bathrooms, workstations, and more (occurs several times daily).
  • Signs throughout the building which detail hand washing procedures, social distancing, and proper use of PPE.
  • Six-foot markers throughout the program area.
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes throughout every area.
  • Free PPE supplies for staff members and participants, including disposable masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves.
  • COVID-19 awareness training for all participants.

Transportation Safety

  • All of our vehicles are cleaned and sanitized before and after each ride.
  • All drivers and participants must wear masks.
  • Participants will get their temperature taken and complete a health and wellness assessment before riding.
  • Social distancing will be maintained.
  • The number of people in the vehicle will be monitored.

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 will need to quarantine for 14 (fourteen) days in accordance with MCHD and CDC guidelines. A note from a primary care or medical staff must be provided to confirm a safe return to work or program. OPWDD, MCHD, and Care Coordinators will be informed of participants who test positive for COVID-19 while also maintaining HIPAA.

A CALL TO ACTION:

Because the COVID-19 pandemic has most severely impacted Black communities throughout New York State and across the nation, it is in these communities where information and outreach must be concentrated and shared with urgency. Committed and invested community members like you are needed to act as trusted ambassadors.

IN THIS CRITICAL MOMENT WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THE FOLLOWING:

• Learn more about COVID-19 prevention methods and why it is important to educate your community about the vaccine.

• Talk to your community about COVID-19 prevention.

• Mobilize your community to get active in sharing verified information with others in the neighborhood.

TAKE THE PLEDGE

“I pledge to proactively educate myself and my community about all of the resources and information available to address the COVID-19 pandemic. I will work to assure full access to healthcare options, especially in Black communities in New York State where they have not been within reach.”

SPREAD THE WORD
